SETTING UP THE S&R STUDIO

Moving into our new studio during the holidays is proving a bit tricky, the kids keep trying to help haha..

I’ve pretty much emptied all the various cupboards around the house ready for the final load to be taken down to my new studio.  I had hidden so many bits of fabrics, wool, paints,  and various crafting items, in so many different places all over the house.  I started out by just using 1 cupboard, the undestairs cupboard, very small, no lighting but next to the dinning table so it was handy to have every thing close to hand, but now Ive seen how much I have outgrown the dining table now.

But woooohoo this now means I can convert this cupboard back to my larder :D Nigella style I hope but I will leave that for a blog post another day!

Here are the before pictures of the studio…

It very much needs a lick of paint, Ive ordered window graphics and a sign for outside, so you wont miss it.  But as you can see I have a table! courtesy of Freecycle, but that is it! So now the fun bit… furnishing and dressing it.

So far I know it will be very white… but with STARS!!! I saw this bit of fabric and its very similar to our colour scheme, so a roman blind would look lush in it (tutorial to follow) so both windows will have roman blinds.

Ikea is going to be my best friend here I think, I need a sewing table, cutting table, some where to set up laptop and robo craft die cutter. Some sort of fabric storage, the big rolls can all be laid flat under the cutting table and then some where to put ready made stock.

So my ikea shopping list:

Cutting table - VIKA AMON/ VIKA CURRY

Sewing Table - VIKA AMON/ VIKA CURRY

Wooden Chest for my labels and sewing bits – MOPPE

Storage for fabric & stock – EXPEDIT

Little pots for all my crafty bits – BYGEL

and just because I love the countryside – SOLMYRA

This will be a studio design on a budget, so I will work out the total costings as I go, and show some really frugal ways of organising your work area, I will take some more photos to show you the transformation into Stars & Roses HQ!
